We had a moment to speak with Johnny Debnam. DJ for South Coast Music Group and artist Toosii. Check out his full interview below and let us know what you think on our Instagram.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC. 919 the SouthSide of the city
How did you get into the music scene and become a DJ?
My father was a big time promoter in the city. When I was 17 years old, I would go to his basement where he kept this turntable. Literally, everyday after school I would go down there and just mess around. I ended up practicing to teach myself.
What was the first song, event or experience that really boosted your career?
In college I was part of an entertainment group “Minor Crisis” we was known for throwing the biggest parties in the whole city at the time . I was mentored by the creator of Minor Crisis Dj BobbyDrake . So he took me under his wing and had me open for him and that’s when I got my own buzz for djn in the city . Literally would sale out every club we were at . I thank him just about every opportunity I can to give him the respect he played through my career .
How did you get your name Johnny Let’s Go?
So funny lol. I was hosting a mixtape for a kid I went to Knightdale High School with. It was my first time hosting so I was kinda nervous. So after I landed down all my vocals for the tape, he was like do you need any DJ drops and I was like ‘yeah’ so the first thing I said was “JOHNNY LETS GO”. He then threw the echo effect on it and I’ve been running with it ever since. People would see me at school like “Johnnyletsgo”!!!! So it stuck. Super dope

Who is your biggest inspiration?
My father. He taught me to always be myself and encouraged me to be anything I wanted to be in life. Him and my family have always been supportive of my career and I thank God for my whole village. I’m glad I’m making them proud
What has been the most difficult part of being a DJ?
Wheeeeww! Learning is the hardest part but after practicing? It comes natural Practice Practice Practice, because as a DJ we are the life of the party. We gotta have the party rocking so make sure your mixing and blends are down pat!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Finally becoming what I’ve been working for these last couple years. Being on the top 100 global DJ list. I don’t do just good hip hop, I also play EDM. I’ve opened up for top names like Marshmello, Kaskade and Diplo. Right before I met Toosii. So to be put on the Top 100 would be mind blowing!
If you could collab or open up for one major artist besides Toosii2x, who would it be and why?
I love being Toot’s DJ. That’s my brother and we have been together since day 0 like Mustard and YG but if I was to do a set with another artist I would say Future and I’m a huge fan of Pluto.
What advice would you give to someone looking to become a DJ?
My advice would be lock into your craft. You gotta love this DJ lifestyle if you’re ready to take it to the next level. See your vision through . Anything is possible. 1 last thing SEE YOU AT THE TOP BECAUSE THE BOTTOM IS JUST TO CROWDED! LETS GOOO

Your family is so proud of you Jonathan. Continue to keep God 1st in everything you do. ####LetsGo♥️
