We had a moment to chat with a local favorite of ours Joe Samaan, aka Joe Gotti. His hilarious skits first caught our attention on Instagram. Where are you from and how was life growing up? I’m from Lexington Kentucky, born and raised. My parents are immigrants from Jordan. Life growing up was good I’ve been blessed with great family and friends .

What got you started in comedy? I’ve always been a class clown. Making people laugh has always been what truly makes me happy. My father has a very good sense of humor and that rubbed off on me. But I got really serious when i knew I had a gift and don’t want to waste its

Who keeps you motivated? My fans, wouldn’t be able to do anything without them. The love I receive from them is what keeps me going.

What has been your biggest show to date? Performing at comedy off Broadway with a close friend and Mentor Shaun Latham, he has always gave me opportunity and helps me improve my craft.

What struggles did you have starting off as a comedian? Trying to always hit a home run on my online skits. I learned to just put out content that I enjoy doing and it walk come together. Standup I struggled with transitions. Also realizing how much reps you have to put in to prefect it.

What type of support do you get from your home town? Lots of support. My friends and family always show love. Also seeing people from high school tell me how they love what I do.

Whats your most viewed video to date and how did the idea come to be? I’ve recently had a Facebook reel get over 50 million views. All my vids are improv nothing is scripted and all Filmed on iPhone. I grew up in my family’s gas station so I incorporate the daily life as a customer or even employee with a comedic aspect.

What goals do you have personally and professionally for next year? I would like to focus more on doing standup and eventually headline my own tour.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to become a comedian? Don’t hesitate to try it. Whatever it is standup or online comedy just do it. Enjoy yourself and be consistent.
