Chazzo Interview:

Where are you from? Crown Heights Brooklyn, New York City

What was life like growing up?I was always an intelligent child, the youngest and only boy with 3 sisters. I was aĀ little mischievous but got good grades. My father suffered from depression and drank too much, taking it out on us, so I was eventuallyĀ in the house less and less, and looked for comradery in the streets.Ā

How did you get into the music scene? At one point everyone on my block had a verse, and one day I looked around and said, “I could do that.” A now infamous battle on my block made me realize I either could make people really mad, or really happy with my newfound hobby, which was also an outlet for me with everything going on at home – so I decided to do it for real. It was off and on for years though, for whatever reasons and distractions, but a series of events made me finally buckle down and lock in.Ā

What was the first song, event, or experience that really boosted your career?I’ve had a lot of performances and been to a lot of events, but the main experience that I will say boosted my career came to me one night while I was asleep. I had a dream aboutĀ Tupac. He came into a cluttered room I was in and basically told me to stop fronting. My dreams are vivid, but that one was one that changed me. I didn’t take heed until later on, but I never forgot it.

How did you come up with your business name ‘Abillagram’?If you put a one hundred dollar bill on a digital scale, it weighs exactly one gram. That’s one way you calibrate a scale. TBH the name hit me while I was bagging up. But later on in life I added another meaning – we all start out as specks of energy in this universe, and then grow into whoever and whatever we are at this very moment. Just like a hustler can start out with a really small amount of work, but then grow into the plug. And now instead of selling white, I decided to sell light.Ā

Do you have any new music out? Yes, I just released a single called “Energee” today, November 4th 2020. It’s on all streaming platforms.

Who is your biggest inspiration? I’m inspired by all of the greats who came before me, the moguls, the CEOs, the artists and the producers. I’m from Brooklyn though so you know aside from Pac for reasons stated earlier, Jay-Z is my biggest inspiration. He’s the one making things happen on every level, all bases covered, till this day.Ā

Most expensive jewelry piece? I’m not a odee big jewelry ass nigga at the moment, but I did get a 6 bottom grill from Gabby Ealan Jewelry before. He has done pieces for Pharrell, Tyler the Creator, ASAP Rocky, Bella Hadid and a bunch of dope individuals. I recently got a ring made out of copper with a crystal wrapped in it from a girl named @Dazhx on ig though. That’s my type of shit. I got two pieces which were about $85 bucks. Ha!Ā Ā

What has been the most difficult part of being an artist? The distractions.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I see myself introducing other stellar artists to this culture. I feel like I have a very keen sense when it comes to another’s pure talent and potential greatness. I’ll be the go to guy for the production of massive art.

If you could collab or open up for one major artist, who would it be and why? The Weeknd. I’ve always been a fan. His music also got me in trouble with a couple women’s boyfriends before. Ha!Ā

What advice would you give to someone looking to become an artist? Keep growing and glowing, even if things seem discouraging at times. If you see it in your mind and feel it with your heart, it’ll manifest. Every successful person will tell you if anything Ā separates them from others, it’s only that they just never gave up. Use your experiences as fuel, and know that it’s never too late to make the dreams in your head a reality.
