We had a moment to chat with Skeno Streetz, a Baltimore native who grew up in Salisbury, MD. Rapping for over 5 years he recently started his own label ā€œBread Gang Muzikā€ in 2020 and has been going steadily ever since. He is gaining new fans and making a wave for his home state of Maryland. Let us know what you think on our instagram

Who is Skeno Streetz and how was life growing up in Maryland?
Skeno Streetz is a young entrepreneur. An artist of Bread Gang Muzik (BGM) representing the eastside of Salisbury, MD. Growing up in Maryland was tough with no mother til age 11 and an absent father my entire life. My grandma, aunt and older brother raised my 3 brothers, 2 cousins and me. Salisbury is just like any city with drugs, crime, no jobs, biased judicial system, poverty and broken families.

How did the rap name come to be?

My brothers used to call me Pumpskeno which came from the nickname Pump that I had in the Streets. It was short for Pumpkin which my family called me . I started going by just Skeno. Then the name Streetz, well the name speaks for itself, ya feel me.

When and how did you start making music?

I started rapping around 2013 with a group called TBM (Top Boys Music). Shout out to them!

How would you describe your music for someone who hasn’t heard you before?

My music is just MY story. I don’t know how to be anyone else and therefore its real, raw, and authentic. Bottom line is it’s Skeno from the Eastside! #Moneydidit

What artists inspired you the most and who do you currently listen to?

2pac, Nas and more currently Young Dolph all inspired me. I still listen to all 3.

At what point did you start taking music more seriously?

In Sept 2019, I lost my uncle, Brian aka Biscuit, and I wanted to make him proud. I have 7 kids that depend on me so I just want to give them a life I never had so its been nothing but gas no let up! This isn’t just rap its personal!

What kind of support do you get from your home town/state?
The crazy thing is I get more support from my kids than anything. They are my number one supporters. But my team at BGM, family and a few others support me and reminds me to stay humble. Shout out to The Fellowship and AMD for all the support and love.

What really makes you stand out and different from other artists?

My music is from experience. The pain and struggle I’ve been through. Can’t nobody tell my story how I tell my story ya feel me. I don’t worry myself about how my music is different or stand out. I just tell them to hit play and ride the wave. People relate to my music one way or another.

What’s your biggest goal in the music industry?

My biggest goal is coming true as we speak. Being my own independent artist that’s able to put others and myself in a position to win, make a difference in our communities worldwide, not just my city, and change our families’ lives. That’s what this is all about.

If you could collaborate with one single artist who would it be and why?

It would be Nas because he is a living legend.
