We had a chance to chat with WrkinSilence a Riverside, CA unsigned artist who’s rocking medleys and rap vibes had us watching video after video.
Starting in 2018 WrkinSilence had been featured on Jake Paul’s Vlog and honorably credited in the video for his song “Not In My Direction”. He was also featured on the popular YouTube channel NoJumper with his single “Like Me”
How long have you been making music?
I technically started making music in 2018. I dropped a song titled āFallā on SoundCloud, which got pretty good reception and then a song titled āNot In My Directionā which ended up in one of Jake Paulās vlogs. It was crazy to me that a YouTuber with over 10 million subscribers used a random song from SoundCloud, and included my name and the song name in the description of the video. But yeah, since July of 2018, Iāve been releasing a song every 1-2 months.
What got you started in music and what was your first song?
Iāve always been around music ā from growing up with my grandfather and uncle hosting mini concerts at their house, to going to my cousinās house after school and making melodies and beats on Mixcraft and FL Studio. I consider āFallā my first official song.
Explain the mask and did you make it?
The way I view it, Iām wearing a mask when Iām not wearing my face. I canāt say who made it.
For someone who hasnāt heard your music before how would you describe the
vibes?
My music is designed to put you in a certain mood. Thatās essentially what my music library consists of, different moods. Each song is catered to make you feel a certain emotion. Certain songs of mine like OH WOAH and WOAH OH, barely have any words but people resonate with the songs because the melodies and vocals make them feel some type of way.
Do you have any labels/investors, or do you do it all on your own?
Iām not signed to any label, and I do not have any investors. I do everything on my own. I definitely would love to be a part of a label or a team that shares the same vision as I do.
Whatās your future projects?
Iām working on my first project right now. I canāt say exactly when it would be released it, but Iām hoping before the Fall. In the meantime, I have tons of new music, music videos, and collaborations with other artists on the way.
If you could pick one person to work with who would it be and why?
Travis Scott. Iāve been a huge fan of his music and I feel like if we ever did a track that shit would sound crazy.
Do you ever take the mask off?
I do, but then thereās another mask I have to wear once this face is off and wearing that mask is way more tiresome.
Whatās been your biggest keys to your growth?
Consistency. Providing content for your fans is a must.
What advice would you give to someone looking to start making music?
Just to have fun with it and find a purpose to why youāre making music in the first place.
