Fivio Foreign is giving listeners another reason to pay attention to his gospel direction. “SOLDIER,” featuring The Fire Choir, now has an official video, published on September 11, 2026. The title on his official artist channel calls it “Gospel Drill,” making the creative intention clear before anyone presses play.
That combination is the interesting part. A rapper can change what he wants to say without treating his musical background as something to erase. With “SOLDIER,” Fivio is putting those two sides of his identity in the same frame.
The release, with the credits straight
The official upload credits Whipalo as director and Rich Son as producer. Its description presents the record around faith and perseverance and explicitly connects it to the earlier “Chasin.” Those are the artist channel’s descriptions of the release, rather than a substitute for listening to it yourself.
A direction with more than one record behind it
“Chasin,” also featuring The Fire Choir, appeared on Fivio’s official channel on July 31, 2026. Returning to the same collaboration gives fans two releases to consider together. “SOLDIER” is a continuation of this run, rather than the first evidence that he is exploring gospel.
In an August 11 interview with Baller Alert, Fivio discussed a gospel album and his interest in performance-led videos. Those were his stated plans at the time. They give this release context without turning it into an announcement of an album release date.
Let the music lead the conversation
Genre labels can help people find music, but they can also make listeners decide what a record is allowed to be before hearing it. “Gospel drill” puts a question in front of Fivio’s existing audience: how much of your connection to an artist comes from their perspective, and how much comes from the sound you first associated with them?
You do not have to share an artist’s beliefs to be curious about that change. Nor does a new message make a song immune to criticism. The useful next step is the same as with any release: spend time with the actual work and decide what connects.
