A group of Taylor Swift fans have sued Live Nation, the parent company of Ticketmaster, accusing the company of fraud, anti-competitive conduct, and other wrongdoing. The complaint, filed in a Los Angeles county court, accuses Ticketmaster of running an illegal monopoly that dominates the ticket sale market and charges customers unreasonable fees.
The fans also accuse Ticketmaster of intentionally misleading customers and allowing bots and scalpers to purchase tickets, even though the company claimed only fans with presale codes would be able to buy tickets. Ticketmaster has blamed “bot attacks” and “unprecedented traffic” for the issues, but has not acknowledged its own role in the situation. This incident has sparked consumer outrage and anger over Ticketmaster’s business practices.
