We had a moment to link with Chief Griffey. The Louisville, KY artist next on our interview spotlight. Check out the full interview below and be sure to follow @JukeboxCulture on Instagram.
Where are you from originally? How was life growing up? I’m originally from Louisville, Kentucky. Although I grew up in a single parent household in a rough neighborhood, life was good growing up. We made the most of it and as a child I never went without. My family did a great job of making sure I was always taken care of.
What’s the music scene like in Louisville? The music scene in Louisville is “slept on”. There’s a lot of great talent in these streets and everyone shows love here. It would be dope to have more major outlets and platforms tap into music in Louisville. I love the support I’ve received from the city though!
Can you give us a little background story on your music journey so far? It’s been amazing so far. I knew with hard work and a process in place that it would take me places in a short amount of time. It takes a lot of work but I enjoy every bit of it. I look forward to what’s in store for the future.

We hear so many negative things about the pandemic, but if you could name one positive thing, how has the pandemic helped you within your career? Did it make you more focused? Help you build your brand more or what? It held me accountable with writing and creating daily. It most definitely made me more focused and I was able to lock in and study how to market and brand myself, while also creating music.
What have you learned most about yourself as an artist during the pandemic? Anything can happen at the drop of a dime and you just have to be prepared to adjust.
What is your latest single about? It’s a 90’s feel about meeting a beautiful woman at the corner store and taking her out with me for the night. It’s a different vibe to what I’ve done before with a Cali style feel and so far it’s been received well. Vibe With Me Tonight OUT NOW on all platforms!
What is your main goal to achieve over the next 3 years? To be one of the biggest songwriters in the entertainment industry. Songwriting can also open up doors that many artists don’t consider so I want to tap into that more also.
Who is on your bucket list of collabs, if anyone? Right now I’m focusing on perfecting my craft so I don’t have a bucket list of other artists to work with. Over time that will happen once I’m able to hone in on my own sound and find out more about what the fans want.

Most expensive piece of jewelry? My earrings. I’m not really into jewelry such as chains and watches
If you could go up against anyone in a Verzuz, who would it be? This is a tough one, I see myself going up against anyone who is open to it as I can adapt easily.
If you could give advice to any young artists wanting to pursue a career in entertainment, what would you tell them? Believe in yourself. People are going to change and become jealous of your success but you have to keep going and be your number one fan!
Lastly, how can people follow your movement? What platforms? IG @chiefgriffey, and stream my music by searching Chief Griffey on all music platforms.
