Rebellious 187 Real name John Blaze is From the Southside of Chicago IL. The wild 100s section. Grew up and got his musical foundation from church with his stepfather being a preacher and a musician as well as the rest of his family being heavily involved musically. Eventually he strayed from the church to the streets and became GD at 14. “I didn’t go to highschool because I thought it couldn’t teach me what the streets did so I never went.” Eventually at 14 he caught an armed robbery case and was given five years probation. Now he runs his own Label “GO ILL Records” to try to help local acts find a way thru music to escape the realities of the G life. How did the artist name come to be? My name comes from Rebelling against the current climate of Hip hop and not just making the same time of music just because that style is
popular. Everybody is singing.. And 187 means I’m killing the
competition
Where does the inspiration come from for creating music? inspiration comes from things I seen or lived in the streets and
lessons I have learned from other people’s mistakes. Now I just try to
convey to the younger generation both sides of this shit. The fast
money hood fame ect. But also the downside. Dead or jail and the ones
that make it out got jobs and taking care of they family. And those
are the lucky ones
What artists inspired you the most and who do you currently listen
to? The artist that inspired me the Most was Easily Scarface. I mean
his voice delivery his lyrics and storytelling made me actually start
to create my own.. A lot of people think I sound like him which is a
compliment. Currently All I listen to my own shit my homie KG our
album coming soon and my other group Goodfellas coming soon.
What kind of support do you get from your home town/state? You know when you rap in Chicago You really don’t get no support
from the city too tough because everyone territorial with they own
crews with a crab in the bucket mentality. The ones that blow gotta
leave the City to pop.. So if my shit pass the G test with my niggas
then I know I got something because they ain’t gonna suga coat shit
What really makes you stand out and different from other artists? What makes me different from other artists is nobody can do it how I
do it. I mean just listen. I don’t care who is Poppin nobody out is
talking about what I’m talking about. Nobody is telling stories with
details like me. The music is authentic so it’s easy to make because
it’s not made up. And I can switch it up and make something for the
ladies and inspirational music I’m not limited to Just Gangsta shit
but that is my core
If you could collaborate with one single artist who would it be and
why? If I could collaborate with any artist? I mean Scarface would have
to be my first choice off influence alone ya feel me? Kool G rap a
close second tho. Damn near neck and neck but Face got him by a hair
What advice would you give to inspiring music artists? only thing I can tell anybody that inspires to anything is Number
one believe in yourself and don’t stop grinding. Shit is hard getting
yourself heard so it’s gonna take some marketing dollars so an
investment in yourself it what separates those who make it vs those
who don’t.. Get ya cake up
