Meet Kentucky Dom, the Henderson Co artist who caught our attention on his Instagram page. Check out his full interview below and let us know what your thoughts on our submit page.
Where are you from and how was life growing up? Iām from Henderson Kentucky, it was good growing up for the most part. Half of my family being from town and the other half rural, I got the best of both worlds. One country life, farm life, and the other hip hop culture. So I was able to learn two cultures and bring them together, while most of my friends had one or the other.

How did the stage name come to be? I worked for a satellite tv company years back. One of my customers couldnāt say my full name, so he gave me a nick name, which was Ole Domnicker. I asked him what that meant, and he said his dad raised Domnicker Chickens and it would be easy to remember. Fast forward years later, the customer passed away. I was sitting thinking of a name for my music. I thought of Kentucky Dom. My friends and family call me Dom and I from Kentucky. But as I was looking for a logo to represent my brand, I thought of the rooster, the roosters my customers dad raised. When I looked up the roosters, it literally said, Kentucky Dom Game Fowl. I literally almost spit up my coffee. So thatās how I came up with my name.
Where does the inspiration come from for creating music? Well, I just love music, and growing up part hip hop, part country, I just wanted to make family friendly music that depicts my worlds.Ā
What artists inspired you the most and who do you currently listen to? There not really one artist thatās inspired me, but if I had to pick, Iād say the Jay Z story….
What kind of support do you get from your home town/state? Thatās hard to say, but most are proud of me.
If you wasn’t creating music, what would you be doing right now? I would be doing all the things I do outside of music. Husband, Dad, Entrepreneur. I own 3 businesses.

What really makes you stand out and different from other artists? Well, for one, Iām a real country boy that wears a cowboy hats, and Iām African American. Thatās rare in this part of the country. Also, my music brings country to hip hop, where as most country rap artist bring hip hop to country.
Tell us your craziest life story: one time I was racing a horse against my cousin, and out of no where the horse started trying to buck me. I got my 8 seconds and then eventually fell of planting my face in a pile of mud.
Whatās your biggest goal in the music industry? I just want to make people smile and have a good time. I want to build some relationships and see where things may lead.
If you could collaborate with one single artist who would it be and why? Coffey Anderson because we are almost the same people, with tow different styles. I think we share a lot of the same values, and heās so talented. Florida Georgia line because they are super dope and I love their style. Our style would make a hit record together.
Favorite Artists of all time and why? 2 PAC! Because he wasnāt afraid to be him. He spoke out what was on his mind.
What advice would you give to inspiring artists? Make music for a greater purpose than just to be famous. Make the music, donāt let it make you.
