Interview:
Where are you from and explain life growing up? I’m from Forest City, North Carolina, a small town about 40 minutes from the Queen City of Charlotte. My life growing up was hard after losing my mother to cancer while I was only 5 years old. I was raised by my grandparents and they molded me into the man I am today.
How did you get into the music scene and become an artist?
I developed a passion for music after hearing Tupac’s Dear Momma song, which inspired me to start creating music.

What was the first song, event or experience that really boosted your career? The first film/web series starring myself and directed by me titled “Will He Cheat” did more than 100 million views on social media and sparked the growth of my social media.
How did you get your name Mr LATRUTH? My stage name LATRUTH came from me being called THE TRUTH because I always spoke the truth in my raps. I changed my name to LATRUTH once I decided to get on social media and found that it was hundreds of rappers going by the name THE TRUTH. Lol LATRUTH is basically the spanish way of saying THE TRUTH. I’m the first and only LATRUTH so things worked out good with the name change.
Who is your biggest inspiration? My biggest inspiration would have to be LeBron James because he is my favorite player of all time next to Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal. What I admire the most about Lebron James is that he puts his family first the same way I do. His family values and how he does business makes him my biggest inspiration.
Most expensive jewelry piece? My most expensive jewelry piece is my 42k Rolex
What has been the most difficult part of being an artist? The most difficult part of being an artist for me is just changing with the times. I grew up in the era of the lyrical spitters and story telling artists and this new era is more about swag and fun. Adjusting with the times would have to be the most difficult.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 5 years I see myself walking across the stage at the BET Awards winning my 2nd Hip Hop award for best rapper. I also see myself winning a Grammy and a few Oscars.

If you could collaborate or open up for one major artist, who would it be and why? If I could collaborate with any artist it would be Drake because we have similar talents, being able to rap and sing. I’ve already done a song with the legendary Snoop Dogg Titled “Don’t Disrespect”, so a song with Drake, Jay Z, and Chris Brown would be a dream come true. I have much respect for these artists and how they’ve been able to stay relevant for some many years.
What advice would you give to someone looking to become an artist? Stay true to yourself and stay consistent. I would also say don’t be afraid to try new things and change with the times in order to stay relevant.
