Interview:

Where are you from and how was life growing up? I’m originally from West palm beach, Fl.  However, around 8/9trs old we moved to Valdosta, Ga. Florida born Georgia bred! Life was typical…mom and dad together raised me and my 3 siblings. I’m the middle child….so….nevermind. I’ll leave that right there!

What got you interested in the music business? I have always loved music. Growing up with a musically inclined older brother, it sort of grows on you without you even knowing. However, my artist Flexico did it for me. He has a sound like I’ve never heard before and he has an incredible work ethic. I wanted be that catalyst for him. So…here we are!

What kept you motivated starting out? Not many, if any have “made” it out of Valdosta musically. I want to put on for my city and bring something back. If it’s true that “you only keep what you have by giving it away”…then that’s motivation enough for me.

How did you meet and begin managing Aye Flexico?  I’ve always known of Flexico. He was major in high school basketball. So when I got wind he was rapping it was only right I take a listen. Once I’d had a few listens to Project Dreams, I knew his talents had transferred to the mic. I reached out in support and encouraged him to continue doing good work. He reached back out and said he needed help in a few areas and asked if I would be willing. We sat down and mapped out our road. The rest is written in history books somewhere!

In your experience, what is the key to developing a newly found artist? Establishing a brand that’s clear and relatable, developing a quality sound, and surrounding yourself with a team of “about you” people. They are all equally important and you can not master one and leave the other. A good personal friend and business partner of mine Bianca Rugimbama always says….”brand brand brand…what’s yours?”

What would you look for in discovering new talent? First and foremost is character. What drives you to be the person you are? What are you like to those you keep company with? What’s your capacity for family? I’m sure every artist across the globe would not be where they are if it weren’t for family. No one accomplishes anything without the help of someone.

Can you name any people who have been inspirations to you during your career? First off, my amazing fiancé is my ace, my Robert Horry; 4th qtr of game 7. I would and could not do what I do without the pillow talk and unit cohesiveness we have. Also, BMRPR out of Australia has coached and fostered me into this industry; quite seamless might I add.

If you could work with an artist besides Aye Flexico, who would it be? Gimmie Toosii and Dababy! All day long. They are killing the game in their own right. Everything they touch manifests and I’d love to be a part of that. To a lesser degree, I like Brent Faiyaz as an artist and Arnold Taylor on the manager side. What he has done with SCMG is legendary and I’m sure he would be able to drop those epiphany type gems consistently.

What type of advice would you give to someone looking to get into management or the music industry in general? Be yourself. It’s the only thing that will last. Trust me, I tried being someone else and it’s exhausting! You don’t have to be a rapper, street or hood. You have to be solid and about your business. Seek knowledge where you are deficient and share knowledge where you show yourself to be proficient. Surround yourself with great “about you” people and always always always KEEP YOUR WORD. We all know the word and balls cliche’. It’s true
