If you’ve been looking for some new iconic smooth r&b tunes to jam Sean Christopher might be your next pick. The Detroit born, ATL raised artist who’s music talents run deep in the family from uncles in hit groups like “The Dynamics” too “Fours Top” there’s no chance for failure. Learn more about Sean and check out his latest interview below.

Where are you from and how was life growing up? I’m from Detroit, Michigan. I grew up in a single parent household. I’m the youngest of six so I was spoiled and was always steered on the right track
How did the rap name come to be? When coming up with my name, I wanted to be as genuine as possible so I decided to use my actual name. Since I’m not too fond of my last name, I chose to go with just my first and middle name (Sean Christopher) it ended up clicking since I’m an R&B artist.
Where does the inspiration come from for creating music? When I write my music, I write about what I go through. Most of the time I can’t write unless I’m going through something. I have to have an emotional connection with the track in order to produce my best work

What artists inspired you the most and who do you currently listen to? My aunt Elaine Watkins-Baker who was in a group with Diana Ross before the Supremes, My Uncle Sonny Baker was in a group called the Dynamics which was one of the first groups signed to Atlantic Records. And My Uncle Roquel Payton is in the legendary Motown group “The Four Tops” so I’ve been inspired from a very young age. Right now I’m currently listening to and studying a lot of 90s R&B such as Jon B, Joe, Jodeci, etc. I’m trying to bring back meaning and feeling in music.
What kind of support do you get from your home town/state? I have a bittersweet relationship with my city (Detroit). Of course it’s home and it feels like home, but when it comes to support, it’s non existent. It’s a crabs in the bucket type of city. Don’t get me wrong, I’m proud of the artists who are buzzing from my city right now. It makes me grind ten times harder.
If you wasn’t creating music, what would you be doing right now? If I wasn’t doing music, I would more than likely be doing something with music marketing for a label. I majored in Business marketing at Morehouse College. I really don’t see myself doing anything not involving music.

What really makes you stand out and different from other artists? I’m genuine. You’re never going to hear me talk about anything that I’m not about in my music. Relatable music is the key. Also I’m a lot more approachable than most artists. I respond to all of my supporters. As long as I maintain a genuine connection with the people, I will never fall off.
What’s your biggest goal in the music industry? My biggest goal in the music industry is to build generational wealth through my musical endeavors. A Grammy would be lit too
If you could collaborate with one single artist who would it be and why? Drake. Because everything he touches turns gold. Literally…
Favorite Artists of all time and why? Michael Jackson. Self explanatory
What advice would you give to inspiring rappers? This is clich’e, but never give up. The journey may feel like a roller coaster, but it’s worth it in the end.
