Where are you from and how was life growing up? I grew up all over the world, my mom was in the Air Force. I lived from Japan to Europe and everything in between, but I call Atlanta & Las Vegas home.
How did the name Chill Capo come to be? I’m a chill person and its the best word, to describe my personality I guess. Capo just comes from being a natural leader/ boss. I went to High School in Italy, so the mafia lifestyle was always a heavy influence in my life. A “Capo” is a captain in a mafia family, and people used to call me that once they found out I went to school in Italy. It just stuck with me over the years. But the full aka is Steve Capo Newland. Lol
What entrepreneur inspired you the most? Dame Dash, watching him build Rocafella as a black man and watching his movement rise in the early 2000s was a huge impact on me. I just love his attitude and drive to bring him and those around him up to his level. Despite setbacks that we all have in life including him, he definitely is someone I look up too in the business world.
What kind of support do you get from your home town/state? I get a lot of support in every city I’ve lived in. From Tokyo, to Atlanta, and now Las Vegas. I got friends and family every place I go because I get the same love I give to everyone.
If you wasn’t a business owner, what would you be doing right now? Probably still in the Military or doing some computer technician job like I did years ago until I escaped that mindset.
What really makes you stand out and different from other marketers/managers? I know what I’m talking about. Lol and I’ve failed more time’s then anyone else at it, so I know what to look for and how to avoid certain pitfalls. I only work with people I truly believe in also, I can’t be bought or forced to do anything I don’t want too. I have enough clients under my brand that I support, so I have the freedom to work with people I want to work with.
What was the real turning point for your business and when did you realize you could really do this? Probably when I made my first $50,000 off 1 Campaign. At that time, I was like holy shit, someone just trusted me with all this money.
