Get to know Smiley Bands. The Lexington, KY artist who first caught our attention back in 2017 with his music video “Lifes Journey”. Where are you from and how was life growing up? Iām from Louisville but I grew up in Lexington, I grew up in the streets, only thing I really know, raised myself since a child.
How did the artist name come to be? People always called me Smiley because I smiled a lot growing up and the bands came cause I been getting money since a child.
Where does the inspiration come from for creating music? My inspiration comes from my struggle and the things Iāve lived and witnessed on a daily basis.
What artists inspired you the most and who do you currently listen to? Boosie inspired me the most and thatās what I mostly listen to.
What kind of support do you get from your home town/state? I get some support from my state but u know how it be, usually the support comes from outside, your city donāt support u till u make it.
If you wasn’t making music, what would you be doing right now? Probally something to do with art because Iām a all around artist.
What really makes you stand out and different from other artists? What makes me different is I got my own sound and I donāt try to mimic otha artist I do my own thing and I talk about real life situation that are goin on in my life I donāt do what sounds good Iām really talkin bout something.
Tell us your craziest life story: People turning they back on me for no reason at all when all I did was keep it real and show love.
Whatās your biggest goal in the music industry? To make great music and the same time make music that people can connect to and relate.
If you could collaborate with one single artist who would it be and why? Boosie cause we make the same type music and come from similar circumstances.
Favorite Artists of all time and why? Boosie cause he tell it how it is.
What advice would you give to inspiring music artists? Be yourself and come up wit ya own sound donāt just make music because you think people wanna hear it.
